Winds and Dry Conditions Means Avoid Burning Today

Today would not be a good day to burn leaves in Central Minnesota.

St. Cloud State University Meteorology Professor Bob Weisman says today’s temperatures in the upper 50’s, northwest winds of 15 to 25 miles per hour, and brown vegetation will create a very high fire danger in St. Cloud. A fire weather watch has been put in place from 1 -7 p.m. The winds should ease up once temperatures start to drop. A cold front coming tonight could lead to similar weather Friday.

The fire weather watch will also be in effect in Ortonville, Wheaton, Morris, Alexandria, Glenwood, Redwood Falls, Willmar, Long Prairie, Benson and Montevideo.
