A St. Cloud Man Was Arrested After Police Conduct Welfare Check

On Saturday night St. Cloud Police were called to the area of Highway 23 East and 14th Avenue Northeast for a welfare check on 23-year-old Zachary Jay Haaf. According to the police report Haaf was under the influence of alcohol and possibly narcotics during the police investigation.
Haaf started swearing at officers and tried to push away and he was placed in handcuffs. Haaf then attempted to head butt an officer and was placed under arrest and was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital ER to be evaluated and checked on for minor injuries that he had sustained on his own in the back of the squad car. During the drive to the ER Haaf made multiple threats on the officers’ family’s lives and he also was threatening to the kill the officer. No officer was hurt during the incident.
Haaf is being charged with disorderly conduct and 4th degree assault.
