Albany Teen Strikes Electric Pole With Vehicle

A car struck an electric pole by the Public Landing on Lower Spunk Lake in Avon early Wednesday morning.
According to the Stearns County Sheriff’s office, a call was received at 5:15 a.m. this morning that a Red Cadillac Deville had hit an electric power pole.
When the deputies arrived the car was found in the ditch with the pole leaning at an abrupt angle over the roadway. The driver of the Cadillac, 17-year-old juvenile from Albany, had said he fell asleep at the wheel while driving eastbound on County Road 54, and woke up in time to see the electric pole.
According to the report, the teen's family denied transportation to the hospital.
The Avon Police Department, Avon Fire Department, Gold Cross Ambulance and Excel Energy were all their to assist the Stearns County Sheriff’s office at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation at this time.
