Archived: Avon Teenagers Injured After Trucks Hits Tree, Rolls

Two teenage boys were injured after a Tuesday afternoon crash near Albany sent their pick-up truck airborne, hitting a tree and rolling near a river crossing.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office reports the accident happened about 3:15 p.m. on Quaker Road, just east of Albany. The truck was driven by 16-year-old Caleb Joseph Albritton of Avon, who was heading east.

The sheriff’s office says the road has a slight curve, and the truck left the roadway on the south side, came back over to the north ditch and hit a field approach. This vaulted the truck airborne, hitting the top of a tree before crashing and rolling, landing near the river.

Both Albritton, and his 14-year old passenger Isaac Sonnenburg of Avon were able to get out of the vehicle on their own. The truck then started on fire.

Both young men were taken to the St. Cloud Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
