A Stearns County squad car was hit as it attempted to make a U-turn in Cold Spring last Friday.

Stearns County Sheriff Don Gudmundson says Sgt. Steven Noetzel was driving his marked squad car with his emergency lights on at around 9:45 p.m. As he attempted to make a U-turn at the intersection of County Road 2 and 11th Street Northeast to make a traffic stop, a car driven by 24-year-old Tyler Joseph Klein of Cold Spring collided with Noetzel’s front tire area. The squad car’s airbag was deployed.

Noetzel and Klein were checked for injuries at the scene but ultimately neither had any serious injuries and both drivers were released at the scene.

The crash is still under investigation.
