08/11/2009 - 11:30 AM
Officers heavily patrolled the areas of Division Street and County Road 75 from the Mississippi River in the City of Saint Cloud to I-94 in the City of Saint Joseph on the night of Saturday, August 8th. The Central MN Reduction of Accidents for Safe Highways, or C.R.A.S.H. Task Force conducted the saturation. Officers heavily patrolled the stretch of roadway and utilized illuminated signs donated by Geyer Signal to warn motorists that they were entering the Enforcement Zone.
During the High Visibility Saturation 91 drivers were pulled over and 29 citations were issued. Six people were arrested for D.W.I. with one vehicle forfeiture. The police issued seven speeding citations and thirty speeding warnings.
The main goal of this initiative is to reduce serious injury and fatality crashes which are a component of the state's Toward Zero Death initiative. TZD is a multi-agency approach to address traffic issues regionally through enforcement, education, engineering, and emergency trauma care.
