Archived: DNR Recomends Caution On Ice Covered Lakes

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is reminding anglers from being tricked by thin ice in at the end of the fishing season.

Public safety officials say that more than six people have fallen through the ice over the last week. Safety Outreach Coordinator Lisa Dugan says that a cold snap won’t change the fact that ice has already started to melt.

The DNR says that most lakes are still covered with ice, but a full days worth of warm and sunny conditions could turn ice into open water.
