Dr. Robbyn Wacker Named 24th President of St. Cloud State University
SCSU's 24th President, Robbyn Wacker

A lengthy and nationwide search has come to an end as St. Cloud State University now has its 24th President. The Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities has named Robbyn Wacker to serve as president of SCSU. Her term begins July 1, 2018.

The university will welcome Dr. Wacker during a presentation and reception from 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Atwood Memorial Center, Cascade Room.

The university is excited to welcome Wacker and calls her an experienced administrator. She's also a tenured professor with a reputation for leadership of strategic initiatives, encouraging innovation, and advancing student enrollment, retention and success.

Wacker will be the first woman president at the school who hasn't filled the role in a temporary, or interim capacity.

Wacker has served the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) since 1990 in several capacities. From 2011 to 2017, she served UNC as provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs, where she worked to ensure the academic excellence of the institution and was responsible for developing and implementing a clear academic vision, aligning academic policies and priorities, and managing a $173 million budget.

While at UNC she led a variety of strategic initiatives that included developing a program plan for a state-funded, new academic building, creating an initiative to fund innovative ideas for new programs; supporting new initiatives for research and creative works; forming international partnerships; and implementing strategies for increasing student engagement and advancing campus diversity and campus climate.

She currently serves as senior campaign advisor in the UNC Office of Development and Alumni Relations. In this role, she provides strategic support for a $45 million campaign  the largest fundraising initiative in the University’s history.

A 12-member search committee conducted the search process, under the guidance of a national search firm and led by Moorhead State University president Anne Blackhurst. Wacker will succeed Dr. Ashish Vaidya, the interim president. He is departing to Northern Kentucky University. He took over the presidency after the unexpected death of Dr. Earl Potter in 2016.
