Archived: FBI Begins Investigation At SCSU

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) – Officials with the FBI and U.S. Department of Education have begun investigating reports about student transcripts being secretly changed at St. Cloud State University.

A Minnesota Public Radio report says agents interviewed at least one professor. The investigation comes after faculty members complained that grades they gave students were later removed from transcripts without the professor’s knowledge. That would be a violation of university policy. University spokesman Adam Hammer acknowledges that federal agents were recently on campus. But he says the school doesn’t know what questions they were asking.

Social work professor Jan Kircher met with the agents last week. She says they’re concerned about fraud, and were looking for the name of a student whose grade had been changed.
