Fire Engulfs Garage In Melrose

Late Friday night, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office were called to a garage fire on County Road 173 in Grove Township. An unattached garage was fully engulfed upon arrival. The garage, owned by 63-year-old Thomas Schwieters of Melrose, had many items inside which were damaged by the fire. Those items included two ATV's, two vehicles, a skiloader and a snowmobile.
The garage was a total loss and the cause of the fire is undetermined. The fire remains under investigation.
The Sheriffs Office was assisted on scene by the Melrose Police Department, the Melrose Fire Department and Melrose ambulance.
