Archived: Gallery Saint Germain Exhibit Highlights Homelessness

The St. Cloud downtown Art Crawl is this Friday and one of the exhibits is bringing a social issue to the forefront with photography and audio.

KVSC’s Justus Sanchez has the AUDIO STORY.

The exhibit is called Homelessness is My Address, Not My Name and is at the Paramount Visual Art Center’s The Gallery St. Germain until June 29. Paramount Visual Arts Director Melissa Gohman says the exhibit features photos and stories of people experiencing homelessness all over Minnesota.

The Paramount and the United Way aim to bring awareness to the problem of homelessness in St. Cloud and other communities with the exhibit. United Way of Central MN’s Associate Director of Community Involvement Christine Midthun says a lot of shelters in the St. Cloud area are forced to turn away people in need.

The United Way will be holding a Back to Basics drive during the exhibit at the art crawl. The United Way also has a 2-1-1 phone hot line for anyone in need of assistance finding housing, food, health services, and many other things.

Homelessness is my Address, Not my name is open 11 a.m to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and one hour prior to performances at the Paramount Theatre.

The exhibit will also be open during the Art Crawl from 5 to 9 p.m. The exhibit runs until June 29th.
