Archived: Gov. Mark Dayton Is Asking For Health Care Enrollment Extension

The deadline for Minnesotans to apply for health care in the individual market is coming up.

However, Gov. Mark Dayton requested for an open enrollment extension Thursday, according to his Press Secretary Sam Fettig.

Dayton is asking for the deadline to be extended from Jan. 31 to Feb. 28.

He says, “Given the challenges we have faced in the individual market, Minnesotans would benefit from this extra time to find and enroll in health coverage that best meets their needs.”

The request was sent to the acting secretary with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Norris Cochran, in Washington, D.C.
