Archived: Highway 12 Near Cokato and Howard Lake To Start Major Project

Drivers on Highway 12 west of the Twin Cities should expect delays as the highway starts a major project.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says that resurfacing will be done on the highway from sunrise to sunset in between Cokato and Howard Lake. Flaggers will allow one-way traffic to alternate through work zones. Delays are expected to be 15 minutes at peak travel times.

The work is for a major project that will improve a five-mile stretch of Highway 12. It will hope to extend the life of the road while also upgrading guardrails and restriping a segment of the highway.

The project begins on Tuesday, July 24 and all lanes will be open again in mid-August. During this time, drivers entering work zones should be prepared to stop or slow down and give crews space to work.
