Archived: House Speaker Kurt Daudt Sends Letter To President Trump

Minnesota Speaker of the House Kurt Daudt sent a letter to President Donald Trump asking to expand access to affordable health care for Minnesotans and responsibly develop the state’s natural resources.

Daudt’s letter began with congratulations on Trump’s inauguration. He then writes that the Minnesota House Republican Caucus is ready to work with his administration.

Daudt is asking for more time for folks to sign up for health care plans that best suit their families, adding the individual market has been in turmoil due to Obamacare.

He also wrote that, “MNsure has cost state and federal taxpayers more than $400 million since it started… we believe it’s time to put an end to this outrageous waste of taxpayer dollars.”

The letter also addresses mining projects and the gray wolf population. Daudt says Obama’s U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management withdrew more than 200,000 acres of northeastern land from future development. Daudt wants to make this land available for mining projects that could bring thousands of jobs to the region.

In addition, Daudt is asking that the gray wolf is removed from the Endangered Species List.
