Archived: International Education Focus of SCSU Spring Convocation Address with President Potter

Faculty and staff at St. Cloud State University joined the university’s top leadership for the spring convocation update in the Ritsche Auditorium. Provost Devinder Malhotra detailed the university’s priorities in engaging faculty and staff in experiential learning, an educational concept that promotes extending what is learned in the classroom to hands-on practice.

The newly appointed Vice President for Finance and Administration Doug Vinzant reported the $45 million dollar Integrated Science and Engineering Laboratory Facility project, or ISELF, is on track to be completed in July. The state of the art facility will be open for classes starting in late August.

He also says progress on the National Hockey and Events Center is going well, with some parts completed by May.

University President Earl Potter presented inspiring examples of how the school is working to achieve a vision for global and cultural understanding. Potter cited specific examples of students and faculty connecting and making an impact at SCSU and throughout the world.

Finally, the president revealed the study abroad program in Alnwick, England is continuing after the Duke of Northumberland agreed to a new lease agreement and also discussed expanded partnerships with the University of New Castle with the program.
