Archived: Minnesota House Passes Sunday Liquor Sales

On Monday, legislation was passed by the Minnesota House for sales of liquor, beer and wine on Sundays.

Deputy Director of Public Affairs Andrew Wagner says the bipartisan vote came down to an 85 to 45 vote. It’s now moving to the state senate for consideration.

Representative Jenifer Loon has pushed the bill for many years. This year, she is the chief author of the bill.

Wagner reports in 2013 the House voted "yes" only 21 times, with every year passing gaining more support of the Sunday sales.

House Speaker Kurt Daudt added “This historic vote brings us one step closer to giving Minnesotans the freedom to buy their favorite beer or wine on any day of the week…”
