Archived: Moonlight Ski Is Coming Up At Quarry Park

Folks are invited to a night of outdoor fun with skiing, bonfires and hot beverages.

Stearns County says an evening of moonlit skiing will be held after the New Year rolls in at Quarry Park and Nature Preserve.

The event is hosted by Nordic Ski Club of Central Minnesota and the Stearns County Parks Department.

The moonlight ski is open to all ages and abilities. Trails will be groomed for classic and skate cross-country skiing, but if there isn’t enough snow, the event will be open for hiking. The trail is 4.2 miles with a few moderate hills and sheltered from the wind.

There will also be indoor activities for people to warm up with door prizes, chili, snacks and hot drinks.

Revolution Cycle and Ski and Fitzharris Ski and Sport are offering free cross-country skis to use at this event. A limited number are available, so if you’re interested contact these shops beforehand.

The moonlight ski will take place Friday, Jan. 6, from 6-10 p.m. at Quarry Park. You will not need a parking sticker for your car.
