Alcohol is Believed to Be a Factor in a Motorcycle Crash in Sherburne County

A man was sent flying into a ditch after a car cut in front of his motorcycle on Friday afternoon.

Sherburne County Sheriff Joel Brott says that the accident occurred at just before 4 p.m near the intersection of County Road 15 at County Road 83. The car first rear-ended a minivan that was stopped in the northbound lane, and then turned into the southbound lane. 58-year-old Robert Gross of Zimmerman was headed south on his motorcycle when the car crashed into him. He was thrown from his bike and landed in a ditch.

The driver of the car was identified as 21-year-old Sydney Dahlberg of Big Lake. Brott says that alcohol is believed to have been a major factor in the crash. Dalhberg was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and is booked at Sherburne County Jail.

Gross was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with serious injuries.
