Archived: Officers Bust Underage New Years Party

Early Tuesday morning the Stearns County Sheriff’s office was notified by the Melrose Police Department of an unresponsive teen boy who had been brought to the Melrose Hospital.

The boy was unresponsive due to the high amount of alcohol he had consumed. Officers were told of an underage party going on at the residence where the boy came from.

Officers went to the residence, where the parents were not home to make contact with the homeowner. Upon arriving, no one would answer the door and several people locked themselves inside the residence while others took off on foot.

Officers located three minors who fled the residence and were taken to the Melrose Hospital to be treated for possible cold weather injuries.

Officers were eventually allowed into the residence with consent of the home owner who later arrived on the scene. Melrose Fire and Rescue were called to the scene to check the area for others who may have fled due to the extremely cold weather that night.

12 citations were issued for minor consumption.
