Archived: Officers Looking For Suspects Involved With Three Tuesday Night Robberies

On Tuesday night, three robberies were reported to the St. Cloud Police Department. All of the robberies took place in the neighborhood west of campus and the victims of the robberies are SCSU students.

Three of the victims received minor to non-life threatening injuries and one was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital to be treated. Two of the victims reported they had been threatened with a gun, but did not see a gun.

The robberies occurred in an alley in the 500 block between 5th and 6th Avenue South, the alley between 9th Street and 8th Avenue South and in the 300 block of 8th Avenue South.

As a result, the St. Cloud Police Department and SCSU’s Public Safety are urging students and other residents in the university area to follow safety precautions.  Some safety tips are to stay in well-lighted areas and travel major thoroughfares, always travel in groups, do not desert your friends, do not text or use headphones when walking, avoid confrontations, and lock your residence doors and windows, do not let strangers know when your residence is unoccupied or when you are home alone.

Police are also urging students and residents to report any suspicious activity in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Members of the St. Cloud Police Department’s Community Crime Impact team are available for questions at a kiosk most Wednesdays in the Atwood Memorial Center.

If you have any information about any of these robberies, please contact police at 251-1200.
