Archived: Paynesville Man Arrested After Allegedy Assault His Girlfriend

A Paynesville man is in jail after allegedly assault his girlfriend with a knife.

Early Saturday morning the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office received a call about an assault involving a knife. According to the report, the caller stated she had been stabbed and that the suspect left the residence on foot. Deputies located the suspect, 39-year-old Raymond Scott Hanson of Paynesville, where he was found walking along the road near the area of the incident. Hanson had a knife wound to his abdomen and he was taken to the Paynesville Hospital where he was treated and released.

Deputies met with the 32-year-old female victim and found that she had a knife wound to her back and she told deputies that Hanson stomped on her neck and further assaulted her. The female was taken to the Paynesville Hospital where she was admitted for her injuries.

Hanson was arrested for 2nd degree assault, domestic assault by strangulation and deputies are investigating further possible attempted murder charges. Hanson is currently in the Stearns County Jail awaiting arraignment for those charges.
