A Paynesville man who killed his grandparents in March has been sentenced to two consecutive life sentences.

The Stearns County Attorney’s Office says 34-year-old Gregory Allen Scheel will be eligible for parole after 60 years in prison.

Scheel killed his grandparents,Wilbert and Gloria Scheel, on March 21 at their home in Paynesville. Their bodies were found in their Prius with a plastic bag over Wilbert’s head and an electrical cord wrapped around Gloria’s neck.

Scheel was indicted on several first-degree murder charges by a grand jury on April 24. About two months ago, he entered a guilty plea agreement of two counts of first-degree murder that would set the minimum sentence before parole at 60 years.
