Archived: Press Bar Bouncer Arrested After Alleged Assault

A St. Cloud man has been arrested and is facing charges of third degree assault.

St. Cloud Police Assistant Chief Jeff Oxton says that police officers were called over by some pedestrians regarding an unconscious man who was bleeding from the head. The 21-year-old man was found lying on the sidewalk outside the Press Bar on West Saint Germain St. The Gold Cross Ambulance and the St. Cloud Fire Department both came to help with medical treatment.

Officers continued to investigate the incident and spoke with several witnesses. Through the investigation, they determined that a security employee, later found to be 20-year-old Patrick McNeely, was removing the victim from inside the bar for being very intoxicated and lighting a cigarette. McNeely had the man in some kind of headlock, and as he was taking him out the doors, he threw the drunken man to the ground where he struck his head on the sidewalk.

McNeely was taken into custody and faces charges of third degree assault.
