Recent Rainfall Has Stearns County Officials Worried About Possible Flooding
04/28/2014 - 3:20 AM
Recent heavy rainfall across the area that is expected to last through Wednesday has Stearns County officials concerned about possible flooding issues.
Stearns County Emergency Management Director Erin Hausauer says water levels are rising and may cause local flooding issues in low-lying areas, on certain roadways, as well as in area lakes and rivers.
The National Weather Service points out that the Sauk and Mississippi Rivers could rise to the “action stage” which is the water level before the “flood stage”.
Hausauer also says a few reports of fallen trees due to high winds and wet grounds have been reported.
People are reminded to be aware of their surroundings and to stay clear of flooded areas.
