Archived: Red Cross Asking For Blood Donations As Flu Season Draws Closer

As flu season comes around, opportunities are growing for you to help.

The Red Cross says blood donation opportunities are available for people who have been vaccinated for the flu. As long as you are fever or symptom-free, you can donate blood without a waiting period.

Blood from all types is needed, especially type O, after Hurricanes Michael and Florence ruined around 200 blood drives in which approximately 7,000 units of blood went uncollected.

You can donate blood right now, but there will also be limited time opportunities from November 1-November 15. For more information, including locations and times, go to the Red Cross website or call 1-800-RED CROSS.
