Archived: Rogers Teen Transfers Schools Over Tweet

A Rogers High School senior has transferred schools because of a social media scandal.

Honors student and athlete Reid Sagehorn is speaking publicly over the two-word tweet that resulted in his seven-week suspension in the Elk River School District.

Sagehorn says he only meant the tweet as a joke when he responded “actually yes” to an online post asking if he ever kissed a 28-year-old gym teacher.

The student was suspended for violating the district’s code of conduct for social media. He has sent a letter of apology to the teacher.

Sagehorn started school Monday in another district, but he has not said which school he is attending.
