Sartell Teenager Headed To National Geographic World Championship

A 15-year-old Sartell teenager is headed to Russia as part of the US team in the 2013 National Geographic World Championship.

Gopi Ramanathan finished in the top 10 in the 2012 National Geographic Bee which made him eligible for the World Championship team. Each team will be made up of three students and teams will answer questions on physical, cultural and economy geography.

The first rounds will take place on Sunday and Monday and the final round will be hosted by Alex Trebek on Wednesday, July 31.

The National Geographic World Championship takes place every two years.
