Archived: SCSU Students To Vote On Two Referendums In Fall Election

St. Cloud State University Student Government President Eric Petersen is encouraging students to vote in this year’s fall election and make their voices heard on the election of twelve Student Government Senators and two key referendum topics.

The biggest referendum students are voting on is to renew the athletic fee. The fee was last voted on and passed in 2010. Two questions will be placed on the ballot regarding the student fee. The first will ask students if the student fee should “remain constant”. The second is asking students whether the athletic fee should be voted on again in 2018. If the majority votes no on the second questions, the fee will remain permanent. If the first question fails or receives less than 8 percent of the student body votes, the question could possibly be put on the ballot again next spring.

The second referendum SCSU students are voting on is whether or not to bring back Homecoming. Voting began at 8 a.m. Monday and is running through 3 p.m. Wednesday.

All currently enrolled students are eligible to vote in the election. An email about the election along with the link to vote was sent to each students personal email address.
