Archived: Severe Storms A Possibility As August Ends
Central Minnesota should expect to receive severe storms later on Friday.
St. Cloud meteorology professor Bob Weisman says a cold front will be coming in from Montana and North Dakota, and is expected to reach Minnesota in storms by late afternoon.
The storms have a chance of large hail, straight-line damaging winds, and heavy rainfalls. This could cause flooding, which is already a threat in northeastern Minnesota as a flash flood watch has been issued there by the National Weather Service.
Weisman believes that the storms could miss the area altogether and has said it’s a "50-50 shot."
Precautions should be taken in the event of severe storms.
