Unusually warm temperatures this time of year means thinning ice, and another vehicle broke through Tuesday in Central Minnesota.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says they responded when skid loader went through the ice just before 2 p.m. north of Albany. Duane Herzog, 46, was driving a bobcat at his farm, located at 23798 445th St. He broke through ice covering an abandoned manure pit.

Herzog was trapped in the skid loader as it fully submerged, but rescuers were able to break him out in time.

Upsala Rescue, Melrose Ambulance and Life Link Helicopter helped with the rescue.
