Archived: St. Cloud Man Arrested After Found Passed Out In Stolen Car

A St. Cloud man has been arrested after being found in a stolen car.

St. Cloud Police Sergeant Jason Burke says officers came across a stolen vehicle at the stop sign at 13th Street and 9th Avenue South just after 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning. The vehicle was currently occupied by a driver who had been passed out behind the wheel.

Attempting to prevent a vehicle pursuit, Burke says officers positioned squad cars in front of and behind the car before waking up the driver.

Officers woke up the driver, 22-year-old David Lee Booth of St. Cloud, and he attempted to drive off, but crashed into the squad car in front of his.

Booth was arrested and is facing charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle, 4th degree DUI and driving after suspension. He is currently being held at the Stearns County Jail.

The vehicle was returned to the Waite Park Police Department where it was originally reported stolen.
