Archived: St. Cloud Man Named Person Of Interest In Burglary

A person of interest has been named in the string of burglaries that have taken place in St. Cloud.

The St. Cloud Police Department says officers helped the Department of Corrections arrest 39-year-old Martin David Hutchins of St. Cloud for a parole violation in the 600 block of 9th Avenue South.

Hutchins lived close to the original burglary that took place at the 700 block of 7th Avenue South and has committed similar crimes in the past, making him a person of interest. He also matches the physical description of the perpetrator described by the victim.

Evidence taken from the crime scene has been linked to Hutchins.

On October 18, police were called to 7th Avenue South after a female caller reported an unknown naked man in her bedroom. She did not know how the man had entered her home, and the suspect fled after she called 911.

Hutchins is also a person of interest in a similar burglary that took place on 7th Avenue South on October 29. He is still in custody at Hennepin County Jail for parole violations.

Both cases remain open and are still under investigation. The St. Cloud Police Department is reminding everyone to leave your windows and doors locked, especially overnight or when you’re away from home.
