Archived: St. Cloud Police Department Hosts Supply Drive For Students

As the school year draws closer, the St. Cloud Police Department made sure children had everything they needed for the new year.

The department says they held a "Back to School Supply Drive" at the Community Outpost at 600 13th Street South. Over 300 kids from District 742 received free school supplies, which included bags and dental and vision screenings. Over 160 people had their vision screened and 20 of those participants needed further eye care needs.

It took a lot of generosity to make the event happen. School supplies were gathered from all around St. Cloud, with the St. Cloud Rotary Club donating $1,000 towards the event. CentraCare Health donated 500 water bottles and graphic design company Walking Billboards also donated 300 drawstring bags.

The St. Cloud Police Department were partnered with the Stearns County Public Health Division along with the St. Cloud Rotary Club, School District 742, and CentraCare Health.

The event was held on Friday, August 17 from 2-6 p.m. The St. Cloud Rotary Community Outpost holds an event every month.
