Archived: St. Cloud Red Cross Needs Blood Donations Because Of Winter Storm Related Shortages

The American Red Cross is asking for eligible blood donors to makeup for a winter weather-related shortage in O, A-negative and B-negative blood types.

According to the American Red Cross, about 280 blood drives across 25 states were canceled due to the winter storm that affected much of the Midwest and the East coast. Those blood drive cancellations account for a lack of almost 8,400 blood and platelet donations.

The American Red Cross in St. Cloud is accepting blood donations next Thursday, January 16 from 12:00-6:00 p.m. and Friday, January 17 from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

The St. Cloud Red Cross will also be holding blood drives at their location off West St. Germain Street Monday, January 20 from 12:00-6:00 p.m. and Tuesday the 21 from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
