Archived: St. Cloud Under Winter Storm Warning Starting Tuesday Night, Through Early Thursday

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for St. Cloud from 9:00 p.m. Tuesday through 6:00 a.m. Thursday.

The heaviest snow is on tap for Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. SCSU Meteorology Professor Bob Weisman says freezing rain is likely Tuesday afternoon until temperatures dip below freezing later in the night.

Weisman says there is potential for 6-8 inches of new snow in St. Cloud. After the snow stops sometime Wednesday afternoon the winds will pick up, causing blowing snow.

Weisman says wind chills could get as low as -20 on Thursday, as an arctic blast of cold air will envelop the entire state.

With freezing rain, 6-8 inches of new snow possible and almost blizzard type winds; this will cause very slippery road conditions.
