St. Cloud Unemployment Rate Drops

Amid the economic doom and gloom nationwide, there are signs of hope in St. Cloud. The city’s unemployment rate fell to 7.7% in July, that’s an incredible drop, down from 8.3% in June. St. Cloud’s July unemployment rate is also less than the state average of 8.1%.
Minnesota Department of Employment Commissioner Dan McElroy says, “This is encouraging news, because the job gains were widespread across industry sectors.”
St. Cloud’s unemployment rate of 7.7% is still two full percentage points higher than it was one year ago.
