Archived: Stand off in Sauk Center Leads to Officer Shot With an Arrow

A Stearns County Sheriff’s deputy has been shot with an arrow in a standoff in Sauk Center.

Stearns County Sheriff Don Gudmonson says deputy Paul Orvis began pursuing a stolen vehicle that was driving erratically. The 31-year-old suspect then crashed his car into a garage and ran inside the house. Once inside the suspect found a compact bow that he used to shoot the deputy in the forearm. Authorities stayed outside the house for another two hours. One of the other responding agencies had an officer open fire and struck the suspect grazing his shoulder and hand.

Both deputy Orvis and the suspect are currently in the hospital, charges are pending.
