Archived: State Partol Reports Two Crashes With Injuries Sunday Near St. Cloud

The Minnesota State Patrol reported two unrelated accidents near St. Cloud Sunday in which people ended up in the hospital.

The first crash happened along Highway 23 in Saint Joseph Township just after 2:30 p.m. Two cars, a Nissan Altima and Subaru, were driving side-by-side. Another car, a Chevrolet Malibu driven by 28-year-old Yahya Abdi of Willmar, was merging onto the highway from westbound Interstate 94.

Abdi failed to yield are crashed with the Subaru, which then hit the Nissan. The driver of the Nissan, 45-year-old William Thelen of Cold Spring, and his passenger were not injured. Abdi and the Subaru driver, 47-year-old Melinda Metz of Richmond, were taken to the St. Cloud hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Another accident was reported just before 9 p.m. in St. Cloud. Emily Bushman, 24, of Albany, was driving her car south along Highway 15. As she approached 12th St. N., the car veered into the ditch and rolled on its roof. She was treated for non-life threatening injuries at the St. Cloud Hospital.
