Archived: Turkey and Deer Hunt For People With Disabilities At Stearns County Newest Park

A first of its kind Turkey and Deer hunt for people with disabilities begins Wednesday at Stearns County’s newest park, Rockville Park and Nature Preserve.

The Stearns County Parks Department and Midwest Outdoors Unlimited are partnering to host the event. The mission of the hunt is to provide outdoor recreational activities for Disabled American Veterans and people with disabilities in Minnesota. Each participant of the hunt will be accompanied by at least one volunteer during each of the five day hunts.

Rockville Park and Nature Preserve is located off County Road 139, West of Eagle Park. The 284-acre park includes natural granite outcroppings, an equestrian area, observation deck and more than a mile of Sauk River shoreline.

194 acres of the park were donated by longtime environmental advocates John and Linda Peck.
