Whalen and Kern are being held in the Stearns County Jail
Early Saturday morning the Stearns County Sheriff’s office was led on a vehicle chase that began in Holding Township and ended in St. Wendel Township. The chase began when the sheriff’s office received a gunshot complaint. The caller reported being shot at by people in a brown Suburban and was currently following the vehicle.
Deputies caught up with the Suburban on County Road 151 near the intersection of 295th street. The driver refused to stop the SUV and drove off the road and through a plowed field. The deputies continued to follow the SUV until it stopped in St. Wendel.
The driver 20-year-old Jacob Paul Whalen of Long Prairie was arrested for fleeing police in a motor vehicle. A passenger 20-year-old Keith Ray Kern of Swanville was arrested on three counts of second degree assault.
The suspects are currently being held in the Stearns County Jail as the incident is still under investigation. The victim did not receive any injuries.
