Archived: Two Men Arrested After High Speed Chase In Little Falls

Two men are in jail after leading police on a chase that topped speeds above 100 MPH on Sunday.

The pursuit began after a Minnesota State Patrol Trooper attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding and a window tint violation. The pursuit started on Highway 10 about five miles south of Little Falls and ended near the 11th Street Northeast and 7th Avenue Northeast intersection in Little Falls.

The driver, 32-year-old Jesse Kirschman of Avon had driven the vehicle over the highway median and crashed into a fence. Kirschman had a warrant out for felony possession of a handgun and was believed to be under the influence of drugs and later refused a test.

The passenger, 32-year-old Eric Makela of Menahga is being held on possible charges. The two men are believed to have ditched multiple drug-related items while driving through a marshy area. Narcotics, related items and a stolen handgun were discovered and seized.

The two men arrested for controlled substance-related crimes and other possible charges are being held pending completed investigation and review by the Morrison County Attorney’s Office.
