Archived: Wanted Man Arrested Saturday In Stolen Car East of St. Cloud

A man driving a stolen car, among several other charges, was arrested in Minden Township just east of St. Cloud early Saturday.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office stopped 28 year-old Tyler Kirby Wiehoff of Sauk Rapids just after midnight after seeing his taillights weren’t working. Wiehoff said that he didn’t have his driver’s license with him. When asked his identity, he gave the name of his brother. A Sauk Rapids police officer also stopped at the scene and found Wiehoff on a wanted list.

Wiehoff had four ongoing warrants for his arrest and a revoked driver’s license. Police found the ignition to Wiehoff’s car was damaged and could be started without a key, leading to them discovering the car was stolen. He also had two pills in his pocket that were believed to contain Oxycodone, which Wiehoff did not have a prescription for.

Wiehoff was eventually booked by police and charged with driving after revocation, controlled substance crime in the 5th degree, giving a peace officer a false name, and possession of stolen property.
