Wednesday Afternoon Motel Evacuation Ends Peacefully

On Wednesday afternoon, St. Cloud Police were called to a suicidal person complaint in the 900 block of 11th Avenue North.

A family member had been told by 20-year-old Aaron James Braun that he wanted to end his life and that he was armed with a firearm.

A police investigation showed that Braun’s vehicle was located at the Motel 6 in Waite Park around 1:40 p.m. and he was believed to be staying in one of the rooms.

Due to the nature of the call, evacuation of the motel was conducted. Police also sent out a notice telling people to stay away from the area until the situation was all clear.

Through negotiation, Braun exited the motel peacefully and was taken into custody and taken to the St. Cloud Hospital.

No weapon was found.

The St. Cloud Police Department's Tactical Response Team and Negotiators, the Waite Park Police Department and the Stearns County Sheriff Department assisted with the incident.
