Archived: Wright County Targets Distracted Driving In One Day Campaign

Distracted drivers will be the target of a one day campaign in Wright County.

Wright County Sheriff Joe Hagerty says deputies will be on the road today targeting motorists that are driving distracted. The primary focus will be on drivers who texting while driving, but all forms of distracted driving will be addressed.

It is illegal in Minnesota for drivers to read, compose or send texts and emails while driving.

The Wright County’s Office of Traffic Safety says more than 86,000 crashes were caused by distracted driving from 2009 to 2013.

Even though the campaign will only last one day, Sheriff Hagerty says deputies will continually be watching for distracted drivers.
