Archived: Young Girl In Critical Condition After Nearly Drowning At Quarry Park

A young girl is in critical condition after nearly drowning at Quarry Park Saturday afternoon.

Stearns County Sheriff Don Gudmundson says just after 4 p.m. four-year-old Hazel Dobbs began to drown. Dobbs was not wearing a life jacket. When mother 29-year-old Earnestine Williams realized she was drowning and called for help, Nathan Sisk of Foley ordered everyone out of the water. Sisk asked strong swimmers to look for Dobbs and several people went under to help.

Eventually swimmer Jason Weber found Dobbs about 10-15 feet under the water and brought her to the surface. An unidentified woman then began to perform CPR. Three people continued to perform CPR until the Gold Cross Ambulance arrived.

Dobbs eventually regained a pulse, and was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital where she is in critical condition.
