St. Cloud Police Arrest Montevideo Man After Gun Complaint At Kelly Inn

St. Cloud Police were called to the south parking lot of the Kelly Inn in downtown St. Cloud early Sunday morning for a gun complaint, which lead to the arrest of a 22-year-old Montevideo man.

When the police arrived they met with the 22 and 29-year-old male victims and through investigation found probable cause to arrest Deven Elias Current on charges of making terroristic threats, 2nd degree assault, 5th degree controlled substance possession, and felon in possession of a handgun.

Officers also allegedly found 2.1 grams of methamphetamine, a loaded .40 caliber handgun, and $10,000 in cash in Current’s vehicle. Current is currently being held in Stearns County Jail for court.

St. Cloud Police Are Looking For A Man Who Hit A Man With A Glass

The St. Cloud Police are looking for a man who hit a 28-year-old Texas man with a glass or beer bottle on Sunday shortly after midnight.The incident happened at the 10th block of 37th Avenue South.

The victim was treated at the St. Cloud Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Police are asking for anyone with information about this incident to call the St. Cloud Police at 251-1200.

St. Cloud Man Arrested After Breaking Into An Apartment Building

On Sunday afternoon St. Cloud Police were called to the 10th block of Rivercrest Drive for a burglary.

The victim, a 41-year-old woman from St. Cloud told police that her ex-boyfriend, 51-year-old James Srok of St. Cloud had entered her apartment without permission while she was there. Police discovered that Srok had entered the apartment by cutting open a screen and tried to steel beer while inside. Srok left before officers arrived but that located in the apartment building.

Srok was arrested and was taken to the Stearns County Jail where he is being held on charges of 1st degree burglary and damage to property.

St. Cloud Respond To Hit And Run

On Saturday night St. Cloud Police were called to a hit and run near Highway 15 and 8th Street North. After a traffic stop, officers found the suspect vehicle near Highway 23 and 29th Avenue.

A police investigation found that the hit and run vehicle was driven by 31-year-old Richard Emmit Jones from Wilmar who was intoxicated. Jones had a 7-year-old passenger was not injured in the crash. Jones has three previous convictions for DWI related offenses which enhanced this violation to a felony.

The vehicle that Jones hit was driven by 45-year-old Theresa Ann Solarz from St. Cloud who was treated for her injuries at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Jones is being held at the Stearns County Jail for 1st degree DWI, criminal vehicular operation, driving after cancellation, leaving the scene of an accident, ignition interlock violation and a child seat violation.

University Drive Re-opens Early; Part Of Division Street Temporarily Closes

The University Bridge and pedestrian overpass are now open to traffic. Originally set to be completed on August 5th, the maintenance work has been completed ahead of schedule.

However, drivers will experience a detour and delays on Highway 23/Division Street because it will close between Lincoln Avenue and Wilson Avenue starting at 7 p.m. tonight. All lanes will re-open by 5 a.m. tomorrow.

Drivers are asked to find alternate routes or follow the signed detours posted.

Dennis Warner & The D's  At Munsinger Gardens This Sunday

Folk and Americana singer Dennis Warner and his band “the D’s” will return to Munsinger Gardens for a special concert in the park this Sunday, July 29th.

Dennis Warner grew up in Central Minnesota and continues to live in the area, although his travels have taken him to all fifty states and beyond. He is known for blending humor, up-tempo, and serious music into a fun and memorable concert for all ages.

The event on Sunday is free and open to the public, although everyone is encouraged to bring a lawn chair, blanket and a dollar for a root beer float. The event starts at 3 p.m.

St. Cloud Police Respond To Burglary In Progress

Early this morning St. Cloud Police were called to the 300 block of 7th Avenue South for a burglary in progress. The victims woke up to a stranger inside their residence.

According to the police report, the suspect was described as a black man with dreadlocks wearing a red baseball cap, red and white striped polo shirt, and a large gold watch. The man was about six feet tall with a medium build. The suspect was in the process of carrying out electronics from the residence and then got into a white four door car with three other black men.

Xbox Gaming System Stolen From Apartment

St. Cloud Police are looking for a suspect who stole an Xbox gaming system and a controller from an apartment on Thursday night.

Police were called to the 500 block of 15th Avenue Southeast for the burglary. It is unknown how entry was made into the apartment and there are no suspects at this time.

Motorcycle Crash Sends St. Cloud Man To Hospital

A St. Cloud man was injured after he crashed his motorcycle Wednesday evening.

St. Cloud Police were called to the area of Roosevelt Road and Traverse Road at about 9:45 p.m.

The motorcycle was driven by 52-year-old Gary Dean Anderson. He was taken to St. Cloud Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

16 Pounds Of Cocaine Found Inside A Wooden Pallet At Central Minnesota Business

The Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force and the Cold Spring Police are investigating narcotics that were found inside a wooden pallet at a business in the central Minnesota region. The business, which has not been named at this time, found a white powdery substance inside the pallet Thursday after accidentally damaging the pallet during handling.

After dismantling the pallet, the task force found around 16 pounds of a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine. The Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force says the estimated street value of the narcotics could be between $300,000 to $700,000 depending on its purity.

It is currently unknown how long the cocaine was inside the pallet and where the pallet came from or where it has been. The task force says that there is no reason to believe that anyone from the business had any knowledge of the cocaine.

I-94 Bridge Near SJU To Close Starting Aug. 6th

I-94 Bridge Near SJU To Close Starting Aug. 6th

Drivers traveling near St. Johns University in Collegeville will experience delays starting on Monday, August 6th when a bridge spanning Interstate 94 is intermittently closed. The closure will affect County Road 159 and 135th Avenue as well as traffic coming from I-94.

The bridge will reduce to one lane of traffic on Monday, August 6th with flaggers controlling traffic from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The bridge will close in both directions on Tuesday, August 7th and re open on Friday, August 10th. Flaggers will allow a single lane of alternating traffic through the bridge on these days.

There will be detours posted on I-94 to help reduce the traffic delays in the area, but all ramps will remain open.

The closure is to install electronic equipment to collect information for a study that is measuring bridge performance. The University of Minnesota’s Department of Civil Engineering is conducting the study.

Sauk Rapids Police Respond To Knife Complaint

Sauk Rapids Police were called to the 1000 block of Benedict Drive on Tuesday afternoon for a complaint that a man was injured by a knife cut on his chest.

A police investigation revealed that teenagers who knew each other were fighting when one pulled out a knife and cut the victim. The victim is a 16-year-old who lives in Sauk Rapids. The suspects had left prior to the scene, but officers have identified and detained a 17-year-old man from Sauk Rapids who used the knife during the fight.

The suspect will be in Benton County Jail until he can be seen in court. The victim was taken by Goldcross Ambulance to the St. Cloud Hospital for his non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.

One Injured After Two Vehicle Collision

On Tuesday St. Cloud Police were called to the intersection of 25th Avenue North and 3rd Street North for a vehicle accident with injuries.

According to the police report, 19-year-old Jacqueline T. Vaquerano Ventura from Monticello was driving south on 25th Avenue North and 49-year-old Blake Carl Anderson from Clear Lake was driving east on 3rd Street North. It is unclear whether Anderson or Vaquerano Ventura had the green light and they hit each other in the middle of the intersection.

The passenger in Anderson’s vehicle, 48-year-old Laurie Ann Carey from Clear Lake received non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital by ambulance.

Police Respond To Car Crash Involving One Vehicle

Late Saturday night the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was called to a car crash with injuries. The crash happened on County Road 145 at the intersection if Driftwood Road. The car went off the road after failing to make a curve and had rolled over and hit a utility pole.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s office was assisted on the scene by Clearwater Fire and Rescue, Gold Cross Ambulance and Wright County Sheriff Officers. The accident is being investigated for criminal charges by the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office and the driver of the car has not yet been determined.

House Fire In The 900 Block Of 8th Avenue North

A house in the 900 block of 8th Avenue North caught fire Sunday morning around midnight. According to the police report, the fire started in a back bedroom of the house. The three residents of the house were able to escape the house without injuries.

The fire department was able to contain the fire and the cause has not been determined.
