Pure Pleasure Set On Fire Thursday in St. Cloud

A Sauk Rapids man is in the Benton County Jail after allegedly setting the business Pure Pleasure on fire Thursday afternoon.

Assistant Police Chief Jeff Oxton says at approximately 12:30 p.m. a man walked into the business, located in the 600 block of Highway 10 South. The store's clerk told officers the man had a gas can, poured gas on the inside of the store and then lit the store on fire.

The male clerk was able to leave the business safely. St. Cloud police found 32-year-old Cody Alexander Mann a few blocks from Pure Pleasure and arrested him without incident.

Mann is being held on first degree arson charges at the Benton County Jail. The St. Cloud Fire Department was able to put out the fire and ventilated the building.

The building is considered to be a total loss with the damage estimated to cost $380,000 due to loss of furniture and inventory and because of structural damage.

Elk River Man Hospitalized After Collision

A Tuesday afternoon crash put one man in the hospital.

Minnesota State Patrol Sergeant Jesse Gabrow says 54-year-old Patrick Fitzpatrick of Ramsey was driving North on Highway 169 near Elk River when 85-year-old Robert Koehler of Elk River crossed in front. Fitzpatrick then collided with Koehler on the driver side.

Koehler was taken to Mercy Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

UPDATE: Father Of Toddler Who Shot Himself Arrested

The father of the toddler who shot himself Monday morning has been arrested.

St. Cloud Police say 28-year-old William Deandre Dickerson had a warrant for improper storage of a gun and prohibited felon possession of a firearm. At approximately 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dickerson was arrested in Miles City, Montana during a traffic stop.

Dickerson is being held in Montana and has pending extradition.

UPDATE: St. Cloud Police Searching For Father of Toddler That Accidentally Shot Himself

A toddler accidentally shot himself in St. Cloud Monday morning.

St. Cloud Police say just after 11 a.m. a woman brought a three-year-old boy to the St. Cloud Hospital with a gunshot wound. Officers went to1500 block of 15th Avenue Southeast where the shooting happened and to the hospital as well.

Their investigation determined that the toddler accidentally fired the loaded gun based on poor storage of the gun. The toddler is in a stable condition, with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say there is probable cause to arrest the boy's father, 28-year-old William Dickerson because he is a prohibited felon in possession of a firearm, along with negligent storage of a firearm.  A sedan with the license plate 391-XBZ was found by officers Tuesday afternoon, but have not found Dickerson.

Allegiant Airlines Provides A Gateway To Sunshine From St. Cloud

St. Cloud Regional Airport is bringing back a seasonal flight to southwest Florida.

The Mayor’s Office says that Allegiant Airlines will be servicing two non-stop flights from St. Cloud to Punta Gorda Airport in Florida. Mayor Dave Kleis will arrive in the inaugural flight at 9:45 a.m. on November 15th and depart for Florida at 10:30 a.m.

The flights will run through April 4 of next year.

SCSU's Vice President of Finance To Depart Earlier Than Expected

The Vice President for Finance and Administration at St. Cloud State University is leaving her post much earlier than expected.

Interim president Ashish Vaidya informed the campus that Tammy McGee will be departing the school on January 5. Last month McGee announced her resignation would be effective at the end of the academic year, but that has now changed. The president says he was recently informed she is pursuing other professional opportunities.

Vaidya has made an organizational change that is effective immediately. The Finance and Administration department is now reporting directly to the president's office. He also announced a national search will begin right away for McGee's replacement and Vice President for Student Life and Development Wanda Overland will chair that search.

Just last week Vaidya accepted a new job as President of Northern Kentucky University. He will remain at SCSU through June 2018.

15 Years Later, Still No Sign Of Joshua Guimond

The search continues as the 15 year anniversary of a missing St. Johns University student rolls around this year.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s office says Joshua Guimond was 20-years-old when he went missing after leaving a party at SJU. He was last seen on November 9, 2002 and was reported missing the next day.

This has been an open and active investigation for the last 15 years and the Stearns County Sheriff’s office, along with Guimond’s friends and family, are asking the public to share any information related to his disappearance.

Northstar Link To Change Its Schedule For Holiday Season

Commuters who use the Northstar Commuter Bus and rail train will have to plan on adjusted schedules over the Thanksgiving holiday. 

The link bus and rail train will not run on Thanksgiving day and Friday's schedules will also be altered for the Route 887 and 888.

The Route 887 southbound bus will leave the transit center at 3:50, 5:15, 6:15, and 11:50 a.m. and 1:45 and 3:45 p.m. The north bound bus will leave the Big Lake at 5:00, 6:20, 7:20 a.m., as well as 1:05, 2:55, and 4:50 p.m.

The St Cloud Fire department is helping students discover careers in the field of fire services.

For the last 22 years the St Cloud fire department has hosted Explorer Post 2032, an award winning program that helps kids explore career opportunities through a fun filled day with hands-on activities, showing what it would be like to work as a fireman.

This program is open to students ages 14 to 20 who have complete the 8th grade and have an average GPA of 2.0.

Three Teens are In Jail After a Fatal Hit and Run near Andover

ANDOVER, Minn. (AP) - Anoka County sheriff's officials say three people are in custody for a fatal hit-and-run crash in Andover.

Seventeen-year-old Tristan Robinson of Nowthen was struck and killed Friday. Authorities say the teen was intentionally targeted as part of a drug-related robbery.

Investigators say three teens have been arrested in the death and deputies have located the suspects' vehicle.

Weekend Fire Near Albany Is Started In a Grain Bin

Crews reported to a grain bin fire Saturday morning.

Stearns County Sheriff Don Gudmundson says just after 9 a.m. they received a call from 66-year-old Earl Felling of Albany. Felling told officials he was drying grain in his grain bin when he noticed the bottom portion was on fire.

After the investigation the Stearns County Sheriff’s office says the fire is believed to have started when the aerator in the bin stopped working and the grain was left on the heater. No injuries were reported.

Road Work On Highway 169 Until Mid-December

Drivers on Highway 169 should prepare for a little extra road congestion between Zimmerman and Princeton while work crews remove trees along the highway.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says trees will be removed to improve sightlines and remove debris from the nine-mile stretch of highway. Analysis of crash data from the last ten years shows that two-thirds of the crashes on this length of highway could have been avoided with fewer trees along the road.

The project began this week on Tuesday and will be finished in December.

President of St. Cloud State University To Leave Post July 1

St. Cloud State University's Interim President announced to faculty, staff and students Thursday morning he will be leaving the institution after the end of the current school year.

Ashish Vaidya says in his message it is with mixed feelings that he will become the President of Northern Kentucky University effective July 1. Vaidya stepped into the interim presidency role after the sudden death of Earl Potter in a car crash in June of 2016. He had been the university's provost prior to that tragedy.

Vaidya has been at SCSU for about two and a half years. He calls it one of the most professionally rewarding experiences of his career. As the university works through the transition to naming a new president Vaidya says he's committed to playing an active role with the new leader.

Minnesota State's Interim Chancellor Devinder Malhotra says they are beginning a national search immediately. They are working with a professional firm, AGB Search, and the Chancellor will name a search chair by the end of the week. He says it's his intention to kick off the search prior to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Thousands Of Turkeys Killed In St. Martin Barn Fire

A fire in St. Martin charred and damaged a St. Martin Farm Incorporated turkey barn Thursday morning.

Stearns County Sheriff Don Gudmundson says after 1 a.m. fire crews were called to the fully engulfed barn, owned by 36-year-old Jessica Westbrook of Holdingford. The 1,000 foot barn is divided into sections, the east section being a total loss, and the rest having minimal damage.

Roughly 6,000 turkeys died as a result of the fire, the incident is still under investigation.
