Basketball Advances in NSIC Tournament

Senior guard Taylor Witt’s record performance spurred a furious Husky effort Wednesday night in the NSIC men’s basketball quarterfinals as St. Cloud State defeated third-seeded Augustana 79-73.
Witt set a tournament record for points scored in a game as he dropped 39 points on the Vikings. The Morris, Minnesota native shot 11 of 23 from the field and went 15 of 16 from the free-throw line. It was Witt’s fifth 30-point game of the season. Josh Ortmann helped Witt out with 13 points and forward Andrew Bernstetter had a game-high 12 rebounds for SCSU.
SCSU is looking to win the NSIC/Sanford Health Tournament for the third straight year. Their semifinal matchup with the University of Mary is March 5th at 7:00 pm.
