Huskies Go Undefeated on Weekend
10/11/2010 - 12:30 PM
The St. Cloud State volleyball team continued its hot play as they stretched their winning streak to three matches with two wins this weekend on the road.
Friday saw the Huskies take down Winona State 3-1 and also saw senior captain
Ashley Shields record her 1,000th career kill. Shields had 12 kills in the match for the Huskies and was one of three SCSU players with double digit kills. Kayla Tschida led St. Cloud with 16 kills and Lauren Cipperly added 14 in the victory.
The Huskies won their third straight match in thrilling fashion on Saturday as they had to come back from a 0-2 deficit to take down the Peacocks of Upper Iowa in five sets.
The Huskies are now 12-5 overall and 7-2 in the NSIC. They take on the number two team in the nation in Minnesota Duluth on Tuesday at Halenbeck Hall. That match can be heard on 88.1 FM KVSC and online at kvsc.org. First serve is set for 7 p.m. with Michael Jamnick and Matt Bishop having the call.
