Huskies Host Top Team in WCHA

The men’s hockey team hosts conference opponent Denver at the NHEC this weekend. The games will be a part of Celebrate! St. Cloud State featuring events across the entire SCSU campus.
The Huskies were idle last weekend and currently have 18 points in the WCHA, the Pioneers lead the standings with 20 points. Both teams are ranked in the USCHO poll. The Pioneers sit in seventh while the Huskies hold down the nineteenth position.
SCSU coach Bob Motzko is approaching a career milestone, the next win for the Huskies will be Motzko's 150th career win and 100th conference victory. He is currently 149-119-35 in his career at St. Cloud State. Senior Ben Hanowski is also on the brink of a career landmark in the hunt to become the second member of the team to join the 100 point club this season. Senior, Drew LeBlanc notched his 100th point earlier this season. Hanowski currently has 52 goals and 45 assists in his career for a total of 97 points.
The WCHA battle can be heard on the KVSC airwaves Friday and Saturday night. This weekend’s hockey coverage begins at 7 p.m. Friday with an in-depth look at the women’s hockey team through the Jeff Giesen show. At 7:15 the pregame show for the men’s game begins and the puck drops at 7:37. Saturday night coverage will resume at 6:45 with a 7:07 drop of the puck.
